Lopez Main Street Bridge emergency repairs start April 26

Motorists in Sullivan County who travel the state-owned bridge (SR 1004) on Main Street over Lopez Creek in Lopez are advised that emergency repairs are scheduled to start this Thursday, April 26.

The temporary single-lane condition will remain in effect, while repairs take place under traffic.

The restriction is due to deck deterioration. A PennDOT bridge crew will make repairs to strengthen the deteriorated section.

Traffic flow is currently controlled by temporary stop signs on either end of the bridge.

The repairs are expected to be completed by May 11, at which time both lanes will be back in service.

Route 87 embankment blasting scheduled next week

The contractor working along Route 87 north of Forksville in Sullivan County has scheduled additional rock blasting for next week.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is scheduled to blast between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7. The tentative schedule is to blast daily, Monday through Thursday, during the same window of time.

Motorists should anticipate delays around the times of these daily blasts. Traffic will be stopped for short durations during the blasting and clearing of debris from the roadway.
