West Burlington bridge rehab to end
Construction is nearing the end on the rehabilitation of the bridge that carries Route 6 over a branch of Sugar Creek adjacent to the intersection with Peters Road in West Burlington Township. This bridge is 35 feet in length and was built in 1924 and repaired in 2001.
The bridge will be open to unrestricted traffic flow this week.
Rehabilitation work included the replacement of the bridge superstructure (deck and beams), waterproofing the backs of the abutments, placing foundation drains behind both abutments, curbing and slope erosion protection, an epoxy overlay on the new bridge deck, new guiderail and reconstruction of the roadway approaches.
All construction is expected to wrap up by early November.
