The deadline for nonprofit organizations and charities to submit reports as part of the updated Small Games of Chance Act has been extended for a year, said Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna).

"This extension is welcome news to the many nonprofit organizations and charities that were seeking additional time to understand the updates to the law and to compile the information needed for the reports," said Pickett, who chairs the House Gaming Oversight Committee.

The Corbett administration has announced that the deadline is being extended from Feb. 1, 2013, to Feb. 1, 2014, for documentation required for small games of chance to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

"The many veterans groups, volunteer fire and rescue companies, fraternal organizations and booster clubs, among others, spend a lot of their time raising funds through small games of chance to perform so many public interest projects in our communities," Pickett said.

The Small Games of Chance law was updated last session to give nonprofit organizations the ability to increase the prize limits for their small games of chance, thereby raising more funding for the charitable works they perform in our local communities.
