Woman charged with theft

A Laceyville woman accused of stealing $1,400 in coins has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

According to information filed in Wheaton's office, Catherine Marie Lane, 27, was charged by state police with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and unsworn falsification to authorities.

Police reported that Lane has been accused of stealing $1,400 in U.S. coins from the residence of Wade E. Brewer on Feb. 27, 2009.

Lane is scheduled to appear before Judge Wheaton on Nov. 18.

Man accused of receiving stolen property

A Towanda man was ordered incarcerated in lieu of bail recently on allegations he bought items from another person that he knew were stolen.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Clifford M. Fleming, 47, has been charged with receiving stolen property. Fleming is accused of purchasing tires and tools from another person in May 2009, which police contend were stolen from Ferrairo's Auto Center on May 16. Total value of the stolen property was set at $2,000.

Fleming's preliminary hearing has been scheduled on Nov. 11 before Judge Clark.

Man charged with resisting arrest

A Towanda man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of resisting arrest.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Rodney T. Russell, 45, has also been charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness.

Police reported being called to a private residence on Nov. 3 in North Towanda Township, because of a disturbance. When they arrived at the scene, state police reported, they observed Russell's wife, Kelly Russell, behind the steering wheel of a car, with Rodney Russell standing over her outside the vehicle, screaming. Although Rodney Russell was ordered away from the vehicle, police said, he continued to yell and would not calm down.

Eventually, police said, the placed Rodney Russell under arrest for disorderly conduct, and attempted to place him in the patrol vehicle. Police reported that Rodney Russell flailed about, and required additional effort to take him into custody.

Rodney Russell was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $5,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 11.

Man charged with assaulting state troopers

A New York man was ordered incarcerated at the Bradford County jail Monday night, following a high speed chase on state Route 6 in Towanda Township. According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Robert Charles Leone, 31, of 1
