Power outage hits northwest Bradford County
A power outage in Western Bradford County left a few hundred residents without electricity Wednesday evening.
According to Jody Colley, spokesperson for Penelec, the power loss was caused by a faulty transmission line, which caused customers to be without electricity from east of Towanda to Potter County.
A check of the website for First Energy Corp., Penelec's parent company, revealed that - in Bradford County - the outage was concentrated primarily in the northwestern section of the area, primarily affecting Troy, Troy Township, Canton, Canton Township, as well as Burlington, Smithfield and Ridgebury.
Colley reported around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday that power had been restored to about 95 percent of the customers in the affected area. However, she could not say when electrical service would be completely restored.
