Proposed natural gas projects to be reviewed by planning commission
TOWANDA - Several proposed projects related to the natural gas industry will be reviewed by the Bradford County Planning Commission at its meeting on Tuesday, including a facility in Terry Township that would treat water used in the gas drilling industry and a compressor station in Wilmot Township, according to a copy of the agenda for the commission's upcoming meeting.
TerrAqua Resource Management of Williamsport is proposing to build the water treatment facility on a 6.8-acre tract of land on U.S. Route 187 in Terry Township, next to P&N Packing Inc., county Planner Samuel Thrush said.
The water treatment operation at the facility would be enclosed in a building measuring 80 feet by 185 feet, he said.
Approximately 45 vehicles a days will be off-loading water to be treated at the site, Thrush said.
At Tuesday's meeting, TerrAqua Resource Management will be presenting information to the planning commission for the first time about the project.
Appalachian Midstream Services LLC, which is a subsidiary of Chesapeake Midstream Partners LP, is proposing to construct the Wilmot Compressor Facility on a 131.6-acre parcel on a private roadway, Walker Road, in Wilmot Township, according to the county's planning department.
Walker Road connects to township Route 410 (Fisk Road/Wood Road).
The compressor facility would include a 10.3-acre compressor facility pad and a .6-acre meter pad.
The compressor pad will include three buildings, namely a compressor building, an operation building, and a start air skid building, according to the written information provided the planning department.
The meter pad will include two buildings, namely a meter building and an electronic measurement building, according to the planning department.
Compressor stations condition the natural gas and move it through the pipeline system to market.
The planning commission will need to approve both projects before construction can begin.
Additional permits are also needed for the projects.
Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the county's 911 building in North Towanda Township, located on U.S Route 6 across the road from the state police barracks.
The meeting is open to the public.
