Route 414 bridge replacement in Bradford County starts next week

A $2,319,516 bridge replacement project on Route 414, one-quarter mile east of the intersection with Route 514 in Franklin Township, Bradford County, is set to start early next week.

The existing two-span, steel I-beam bridge over the North Branch of Towanda Creek was built in 1956 and is currently classified as structurally deficient.

This project includes replacing the old bridge with a new concrete structure on the existing alignment, new roadway approaches, new guiderail, and tree establishment and replacement upstream of the bridge.

Prime contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. will construct a temporary roadway and bridge adjacent to the north side of the existing bridge for traffic to use during the construction of the new bridge.

All work under the contract, except tree establishment and replacement, should be completed by the end of this November.

Completion date for work associated with tree establishment and replacement is Nov. 2014.
