Route 414 bridge replacement project in Bradford County updated

MONTOURSVILLE - Here's an update on the Route 414 bridge replacement project under construction in Bradford County.

Prime contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is currently constructing a temporary roadway and bridge adjacent to the north side of the existing bridge.

This Friday, July 26, traffic will be switched to this new temporary roadway. This will allow the contractor the build the new bridge on the existing alignment.

Motorists are advised to stay alert to the new traffic patterns in the work zone starting Friday.

The $2,319,516 bridge replacement project is on Route 414, one-quarter mile east of the intersection with Route 514 in Franklin Township.

The existing two-span, steel I-beam bridge over the North Branch of Towanda Creek was built in 1956 and is currently classified as structurally deficient.

This project includes replacing the old bridge with a new concrete structure, new roadway approaches and guiderail, and tree establishment and replacement upstream of the bridge.

All physical work under the contract, except tree replacement and establishment, should be completed by the end of this November.
