Sayre customers without power Monday night
Problems with a transformer at Penelec's Thomas Avenue substation caused over 900 Penelec customers in Sayre to lose power Monday evening.
Power was expected to be restored to 908 customers in Sayre Borough and less than five in Athens Township by 10 p.m. Monday, said Penelec spokesperson Jody Place.
The Sayre Theatre on South Elmer Avenue was among the customers that lost power at about 7:20 p.m. Monday, said theater manager Margie Ross. The power went out just after the night's movies had started, she said.
"We lost a nice chunk of change, that's for sure," Ross said.
Approximately 100 customers in attendance at Monday's showings received emergency passes to come back Tuesday, Ross said.
