Two employees of the McDonald's on Keystone Avenue in Sayre were honored Thursday as being some of the best in their region.

Joan Wells received the Crew Person of the Year award for the Philadelphia region, which includes about 550 stores, said McDonald's owner/operator Marlene Rohe. Manager Lindsey Schuchardt also received the Outstanding Store Manager honor, awarded to the top 10 percent of managers in the region.

Schuchardt has worked at the Sayre McDonald's for seven years, while Wells has been employed there six years, according to a release from the restaurant.

Wells said she was surprised to receive the honor, which comes with a $500 check.

"I had no idea," she said.

Only one person from each of the 22 regions nationwide is selected for the Crew Person of the Year honor, Rohe said. The Philadelphia region covers stores from upstate New York down to Delaware, said Tory Wozny, the region's human resources director.

Owners nominate employees for the awards each year, Wozny said. Winners are then selected based on criteria including exhibiting consistent leadership skills and striving to deliver excellent customer service and hospitality.

"It's such a great honor," Wozny said. "We're really proud of them and their accomplishments."

"I am thrilled that Joan and Lindsey have been recognized as two of the top employees in the country," Rohe said. "I am not only proud of their accomplishments and the good example that they have set, but also honored to work with them on a daily basis. They deliver quality, service, positive experience and cleanliness that keeps our customers happy."
