Sullivan County Fall Democratic Dinner set
The Sullivan County Democratic Committee Fall Dinner will be on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Forksville Inn. Registration for door prizes will be from 6-6:30 p.m. followed by dinner promptly at 6:30 p.m..
A special feature at the dinner will be our Democratic Memorabilia. A Franklin Roosevelt poster, property of Mary Cosgrove and various Democratic items of Anna Waldron will be on display, reminiscent of all the great bygone years of the Democratic Party. Additional memorabilia is welcome and those wishing to have their items displayed are asked to contact chair, Germaine Donahue at (570) 946-4106.
The cost of the dinner is $13 and must be paid in advance. The menu is as follows: Turkey, roast beef, baked potatoes, corn, broccoli with cheese sauce, coleslaw, applesauce, apple and pumpkin plus rolls, butter, coffee, tea, iced tea and lemonade. There will be a cash bar available. Anyone without a paid reservation will be turned away.
Reservations must be received by Oct. 23 and can be made my mailing your check payable to the Sullivan County Democratic in the amount of $13 to Diane Fitzgerald, 66 Harrison Road, Dushore, PA 18614.
Keynote Speaker is the newly elected Democratic state representative of the 83rd district, the Honorable Rick Mirabito. Susan Mathias, district coordinator for Congressman Carney will outline Congressman Carney's political positions and accomplishments. Congressman Carney will be away on naval reserves and is unable to attend. Senator Arlene Specter will be represented by Jacob Digel, the Northeast Political Director. Father Joseph Hornick, Pastor of St. Basil's and St Francis Parishes, will give the invocation and benediction. Judge Robert Colville seeking election to the superior court and Susan Judson seeking election to the commonwealth court will energize the evening.
All local Democratic candidates wishing to speak are asked to contact the Chair, Germaine Donahue at (570) 946-4106 so that time may be allotted in the program.
The Sullivan County Democratic Committee loyal donkey flag will again be awarded to the precinct that has the greatest attendance based on percentage of registered Democratic voters in the precinct. A $20 donation will be made on behalf of that precinct to their local Fire Company. Laporte Township received this award at the last dinner.
Listed in the program will be our honorary Democrats who have attended the last four dinners as well as the loyal Democrats who have financially supported the local Democratic Committee drive in 2009.
