A woman was transported by emergency medical helicopter Saturday to a hospital in the region after the vehicle she was driving left the Wyalusing-New Albany Road in Terry Township and struck a house, the Wyalusing fire chief said.

The woman's SUV struck the side of the house at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday "and bounced off it," Wyalusing Fire Chief Adam Dietz said.

While there were people in the house at the time, they were not injured, he said.

There were no passengers in the SUV, which sustained moderate damage, he said.

The house sustained minor to moderate damage, he said.

Chief Dietz said he did not know the name of the driver or of the people who lived in the house.

The woman was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, the fire chief said.

He said he did not know why the woman's vehicle left the road.

The accident occurred approximately 7 miles from Wyalusing, approximately one mile from the Turrell's Orchard intersection, he said.

State police said they did not have additional information to release yet about the accident.
