Tioga County Museum to host first installment of spring and summer lecture series

The Tioga County Historical Society has announced a new spring and summer lecture series starting this month. The series will feature local historians presenting programs on a variety of historical topics.

On May 18 at 11 a.m., Binghamton University graduate student Dan Pearson will give a lecture titled: "In the Middle of Revolution: Rebellion, Civil War, and the Case of Jelles Fonda, 1760-1778." Pearson's lecture is an in-depth look at how those caught between' "loyalist" and "patriot" polarities experienced the American Revolution.

The program is free of charge, but donations are appreciated.

The Tioga County Historical Society Museum is located at 110 Front St. in Owego, N.Y. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (607) 687-2460, email museum@tiogahistory.org, or visit www.tiogahistory.org for more information.
