TROY - Just in time for Valentine's Day shopping is the Troy Intermediate School's 'TIS a Sweet Thing Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the school.

The TIS Student Council is sponsoring the event, and student council advisor Michelle Manning said it's the council's biggest show yet.

According to Manning, more than 50 vendors will be on hand for shoppers. Twenty-five student council volunteers will be helping out.

This craft show is being held to make up for the one usually held at Christmastime. Last year, that event was canceled due to the weather.

Manning thought having the show in the off season actually helped. She said vendors are anxious to start selling.

On Friday in the gym, two vendors, Beverly and Myron Randall of Barton, N.Y. were setting up. Beverly said she had a bouquet and a gift basket for Valentine's Day that she will be selling.

It was their first time at one of the intermediate school's shows. They also had wildlife-themed items and antler jewelry.

Manning noted that the show will feature jewelry, scrap booking, and quilting items. She said there are a lot of handcrafted items of a great variety.

In addition, there will be brand name items such as the Pampered Chef and Lia Sophia.
