Towanda's First Friday features parade, reindeer, and more
Can you feel the excitement in the air? It is all about the upcoming First Friday Annual Christmas Parade that will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 in downtown Towanda. The First Friday event, which takes place in downtown Towanda, starts at 5 p.m. on Dec. 7.
You won't want to miss the opportunity for your child to sit with Santa as he hands out a gift bag to our youngsters. Not to mention the look of wonder in their eyes as they meet Santa's Second String Reindeer! Not to mention the fact that we have had an awesome response from our area businesses this year in helping out with making this parade a special one for your family.
Santa and Santa's Second String Reindeer will be in the Midtown Parking Lot on Main Street after the parade, where children can spend time meeting with Santa.
Here are some other things taking place at Towanda's Dec. 7 First Friday:
Dry Goods Deli/Plus will have apple cider available.
The Country Peddler will be offering 10 percent off of their products for the night.
T-Town Bakery will be offering a "cookie & hot drink (coffee or hot chocolate)" for just $1. At the bakery, someone will be reading Christmas stories.
The Weigh Station Café is featuring Folk Spirit from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
KZFM Radio will be announcing the parade live and the KZFM KraZy KZ Cat will be prowling about, so make sure you stop and shake a paw with him.
Chemung Canal Trust will once again have Christmas Cookie Decorating for the kids! Parents: Bring your children in and have hot cocoa while you wait for their creations to be completed.
Ben Franklin Crafts will be offering a free kids' make-and-take-it from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. or until supplies run out. Stop by Ben Franklin Crafts and make a free felt elf hat. This will look great if you get your picture taken with Santa.
The Rig Food Truck will be at the scene.
Memorial Hospital is partnering with the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers in celebration of the holidays. Hot chocolate, marshmallows and a holiday surprise will be available for all to enjoy! The fun will take place at the Rainbow's End Thrift Shop where a buy one-get one free sale will take place throughout the evening.
Costume Capers will be in the parade!
Dolores Weed's Children's Choir will perform on the Courthouse steps from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
An elf, who will be traveling on a float in the parade, will announce the availability of free cotton candy!
We have to extend a very big thank you to Hunt Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors for sending us Santa's Second String Reindeer for a second year now!
