FOR THE REVIEW
The Towanda Area School District, in conjunction with the Pa. Department of Health, has received a supply of injectable H1N1 Influenza vaccine for children enrolled in the Towanda Area School District.
The clinic will be open from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the J. Andrew Morrow Primary School. Information about the clinic has been distributed through the district Web site (www.tsd.k12.pa.us), newspaper releases, and the Parent Link system.
The injected vaccine will be given during these hours only on a voluntary basis. A parent or guardian must come to the clinic with the child. Parents are encouraged to consult the child's doctor before participating in the clinic if there are concerns about thimerosal (preservative), egg allergy, or illness with fever. The parent must stay with the child throughout the clinic and a mandatory 20-minute observation period.
Children who are less than 10 years old will need to receive a second dose of the vaccine at least 28 days after the first one. The district has made arrangements for this and will inform parents of the plan during the child's first dose administration.
Questions about the clinic may be directed to the district's certified school nurses, Linda Neiley or Terry Primrose at 570-265-2101.
