TROY - The Troy Fair is always excited about its latest offerings, but this year it's looking back in time as well.

Currently, the fair is collecting items to be on display for a "Troy Fair Through the Years" exhibit.

The display will be under the large tent in the Lower Meadow on Monday, July 22.

Emily Vinson, a member of the junior fair board and the coordinator of the exhibit, said the fair's history was discussed on its Facebook page, so the fair decided to have something looking back over the years.

She said the fair wanted to get the community involved as well.

So far, she said, old ribbons, posters, trophies, and program books have been collected.

Program books from 1967, 1984, and 1975 will be on display.

The 1984 program lists the entertainment as Jeannie C. Riley, who had a hit with the "Harper Valley PTA."

It lists her as the "Harper Valley Sweetheart."

The fair is looking for old photos, ribbons, memorabilia and/or displays.

People with something to loan to the exhibit are asked to please drop them off at the Troy Fair Office on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Claim tickets will be provided for the safe return of the items, and pick-up of display items will be available from the Troy Fair office, Tuesday through Saturday during the week of the fair, or Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. thereafter.

Vinson, meanwhile, has her own item for the exhibit - a shirt signed by Billy Ray Cyrus.
