Two vying for GOP nomination
In Springfield Township, two Republicans are vying for the nomination for a 6-year supervisor term. They are Roy Beardslee and Bradon A. Prouty. A questionnaire was not received from Beardslee.
Name: Bradon Prouty
Address: 249 Big Pond Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA 16914
Office sought: Springfield Township Supervisor
Political Party: Republican
Occupation: Operator/Mechanic; Springfield Township
1. Why are you seeking the office?
I believe having a supervisor that works everyday in the township helps the workers and supervisors have a better understanding of each other. Also I think it helps keep everyone more accountable to each other. I believe having a supervisor there daily will help in making better decisions large or small, for projects at hand or preplanning for future projects.
2. What are your credentials for being an effective representative?
I have been in management in previous jobs. I have been Vise President of Fire Department and sat on board of directors for Tri-Township Ambulance. All these have helped in developing me in decision making, money management, and dealing with the publics needs and concerns.
3. If you are the challenger, what have you done to prepare for holding the office?
I have worked for the township for over a year, so I am familiar with the everyday activities and interacting with the residents of the township. Also I have been attending the townships monthly meetings, and talking with current supervisors about the duties and responsibilities of a supervisor.
4. What are the three top issues as you see them and what would you do about them?
Currently we have three excellent and very experienced supervisors. The thing that we lack is candidates that are young, eager, willing to learn and take on responsibility of making decisions to continually better our township. Someone who is willing to work with current supervisors to learn how it works, to be able to continue the reputation that current supervisors have worked hard to give our township. someone that is willing to take on the responsibilities to become an excellent and experienced supervisor in the future. I am a young, eager and willing candidate, who desires to be taught by the current supervisors.
Making sure all responsible parties pay for damages to roads due to excessive use or incorrect use of the roads.
Making residents aware of township meetings and encouraging them to attend meetings, so they are aware of where their tax dollars are going. Also giving them a better understanding of what our daily duties entail and the amount of time it takes to complete projects
5. In the coming years, how would you like to see your municipality use its revenue from the impact fee on gas drilling?
I would like to see the township be able to update and improve things in the township that would not be possible without this funding. I think it's very important that the money is used or invested correctly, so that in the future if this money is no longer coming in it will not have a huge impact on the township or its residents financially.
7. What is your philosophy about taxation?
6. How have you been campaigning?
I have used word of mouth and mailers.
