Waverly village police arrested an 18-year-old male Waverly High School student Sunday following investigation into an assault on a school bus.

According to information from village police, the student, whose name was not released, is accused of striking a 10-year-old student on the bus while it was parked at the high school's bus parking lot. The incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 23, police said.

Police said the 18-year-old hit the 10-year-old in the chest with his arm as the student was trying to pass him, then punched him in the face.

The 18-year-old was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment, police said. He is scheduled to appear Nov. 8 in Village of Waverly court to answer the allegations.
