A fire in Sheshesquin Township late Thursday night destroyed a barn and its contents.

The fire was called in at around 10:30 p.m., according to Steve Radney, assistant chief with the Ulster/Sheshequin Fire Department, and was well underway when firefighters responded to the scene. No firefighters were injured fighting the blaze, Radney said.

Todd Burnett of Sheshequin Township said that he and his parents had around 1,000 bales of hay stored in the barn, along with a hay wagon, a hay elevator and a grain drill, which were all destroyed in the fire. The barn was owned by Ellen Bustin of Towanda.

Radney said the fire is considered suspicious, and that the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall will begin an investigation Friday morning.
