Troy Memorial Day Parade planned

John Herrington, Commander, VFW Post 8675, said that the annual Troy Memorial Day parade will be held Monday, May 27. It begins at W.R. Croman Primary School at 9 a.m. and ends at Davison Green, where a ceremony will take place honoring deceased veterans.  The speaker will be retired Command Sergeant Major Darryl Jannone.  The VFW encourages any veterans wishing to participate in the parade to contact Mike Powers at Wiggle 100 for information.  Vehicles will be available for those unable to march.

School house project continues

Armenia Township supervisors recently heard an update on the old Armenia School House restoration project.

Mallory Babcock, a member of the project committee, said that the committee has selected the roof color for the building, located on Fallbrook Road in Armenia Township.

She said brownish burgundy is the color that will be used.

The committee's mission statement for the project is to "restore the building to its original state as much as possible for the purpose of using it as an educational and historical center for Armenia Mountain history."

Canton approves items

The Canton Area School Board approved the following items at its last meeting:

- the IDEA Agreement between Canton Area School District and BLaST IU 17 effective June 30, 2013.

- the Special Education Services contract between Canton Area School District and BLaST IU17 effective July 1, 2013.

- the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Canton Area School District and Canton Area Education Association pertaining to a health care opt-out/buy-out provision effective July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.

- the MOU between Canton Area School District and Canton Area Education Association pertaining to the Kindergarten Camp provided by Bradford/Sullivan Head Start Program.

- the MOU between Canton Area School District and Canton Area Education Association pertaining to LFS training of new teachers

- the revised MOU between Canton Area School District and Canton Area Education Association pertaining to the retirement incentive effective immediately and expiring at the end of the 2012/2013 school year.
