Auxiliary Chinese auction will not be held
Normally at this time of the year, the Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary announces its upcoming Chinese auction. That is not the case this year, according to a news release from the auxiliary.
The news release notes that the state Legislature is currently in the process of rewriting the Small Games of Chance regulations, under which Chinese auctions now fall. Organizations wishing to hold such an event must now secure a permit to do so. As of this time, hospital auxiliaries are not included on this list and are therefore not eligible to apply for such a permit.
"We have been assured that this will be worked out by next year, and we may get back to
holding our function as usual," the news release notes. "We would like to thank the many businesses and the Troy community that supported our event in the past, and we look forward to your generous support when we resume, hopefully, next year."
