TROY - You've got to hand it to the Troy-Canton area.

Residents really get into the spirit when it comes to fighting cancer.

From the annual Western Bradford County Relay for Life to the latest effort at the upcoming Old Shoe Game, they show their true colors - and this fall, it's pink.

"With great support from the Chamber of Commerce in Canton and Troy and other local organizations, the 2012 Old Shoe Game between Canton and Troy will be a Pink Out to help raise funds for breast cancer research with proceeds being donated to Guthrie-Troy Community Hospital's Patient Mammography Charity Fund," reported Shane Wilber.

"This is a positive step for both communities in continuing a great tradition and helping raise money for a cure."

Here's the information, if you want to get involved.

As a part of the fundraising effort, Pink Out T-shirts have been designed and pre-orders are currently being taken. The cost will be $15 per shirt. It's prepaid, and cash only.

DMJ Designs in Troy and Thompson's Sports and Apparel in Canton will be making the Pink Out T-shirts and the shirts will be available in the following sizes: Kids-M and Adult S-XXL.

The deadline for shirt orders is noon on Oct. 12. Shirt orders are scheduled to be ready for pickup the week of the Old Shoe Game. If they are ready sooner, people will be contacted and they can be picked up at Thompson's Sports and Apparel in Canton and Wiggle 100 in Troy, depending on where people listed their place of pick up.

Shirt orders can be placed at the following locations:

In Troy, visit Mrs. Hutters Hilltop Florist, Barnstead Pantry, State Farm Insurance, and Terrace Lanes.

The Trojan Touchdown club will be taking pre-orders for t-shirts under the grandstands for anyone interested during halftime of Friday night's homecoming game with Loyalsock. People can also place their order with Nicole Imbt of the Trojan Touchdown Club in person.

Students can place orders with Tammy Shedden in the high school office.

In Canton, visit Thompson's Sports & Apparel or The Works @ Jana's. Students can place orders with Miss Martz and the Canton Senior High Student Council. Shirt Orders will be taken this weekend in Canton at the Apple and Cheese Festival, as well as the Fall Fling on Saturday, Oct. 6.

For more updates, people can tune into Wiggle 100 radio, check out, and follow the "Old Shoe Pink Out 2012" events page on Facebook.
