State police are still searching for the whereabouts of a Dushore man who has been missing since mid-January.

State police in Laporte confirmed Tuesday that they are still looking for Jeffrey Kobbe, 36, who was last seen in the Dushore area.

Kobbe's father, Durwood Kobbe of New Albany, reported Wednesday that when last seen in Dushore, his son was wearing a backpack. He said that Jeffrey Kobbe had informed others that he intended to go hiking in the "Haystacks" of Loyalsock Creek in Sullivan County. Durwood Kobbe said state police checked the area, but found nothing to indicate the whereabouts of his son.

Durwood Kobbe described his son as 5-feet, 11-inches tall, about 180 pounds, with long brown hair that he sometimes wears in a pony tail, and a full bushy beard. He said his son has a spider-web tattoo on his elbow, and another spider-web tattoo on his leg, along with other, smaller tattoos on other sections of his body.

Durwood Kobbe also said that in 2000 his son had been in a motorcycle accident, in which he had suffered a severe head injury. As a result, Durwood Kobbe said, his son had suffered a couple of seizures over the years, which is why he doesn't have a driver's license. However, he continued, Jeffrey Kobbe hasn't mentioned to him that he is experiencing any serious medical problems in the last eight years.

"We just want to know that he's OK," Durwood Kobbe said. "We know that he's old enough to go off by himself. But we would like to know where he is."

Anyone with information about Jeffrey Kobbe's whereabouts is asked to contact the state police at (570) 946-4610.

There are pics going around on Facebook. It would be benneficial to have one in the paper as well. Jeff is well known in the area and most locals would recognize him a mile away. We are praying for his safe return.
