Woman in Susquehanna River taken to hospital
Firefighters from three departments, state police, and an ambulance were deployed after a woman was spotted around 9:50 a.m. in the Susquehanna River, 300 yards south of Towanda's Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The woman was standing in the water, near the Towanda shore of the river, Wysox Fire Chief Brett Keeney said.
A rescue boat owned by the Towanda Fire Department was used to take her out of the water, he said.
Asked what condition she was in, Keeney said the woman "was answering questions and stuff" that were posed to her by state police and emergency medical personnel at the scene.
The woman was then taken by ambulance to a hospital, Keeney said. He said he did not know which hospital she was taken to.
He said he did not know the woman's identity.
