MONTOURSVILLE - A $353,138 project to replace an aging bridge on Route 3009 (Worlds End Road) in Sullivan County is set to start July 8.

The existing 16'-long bridge built in 1938 carries Worlds End Road over Rock Run in Shrewsbury Township, approximately three-quarters-of-a-mile from the intersection with Route 42 or 1,000 feet north of Allegheny Avenue near Eagles Mere.

This project includes replacing the old bridge with a new precast reinforced concrete box culvert on the existing alignment, new roadway approaches, new guiderail and drainage improvements.

Starting Monday, vehicular traffic will be detoured along Routes 42, 220 and 154. The detour will be in effect until August 3. During the detour, a temporary pedestrian bridge will be provided.

All work under this contract is scheduled to be completed by August 23.

Lycoming Supply Inc. is the prime contractor.
