Write-in candidate may be next Ulster tax collector

Although Bradford County's election results Tuesday were for the most part routine there were a few surprises from the polls.

In Ulster Township, for example, a write-in candidate may be the next local tax collector.

According to unofficial results provided by the Bradford County Board of Elections, Susan Layman received approximately 69 write-in votes on Election Day in Ulster Township for the tax collector's position.

If the write-in votes are all considered legitimate by the Board of Elections, it would grant Layman a victory over Sandra Benjamin, who received 35 votes as a Democratic candidate.

The Bradford County Board of Elections is expected to announce official results within a few days.
