The principal of Wyalusing Valley Elementary School has resigned, district officials confirmed Tuesday.

The Wyalusing Area School District board of education accepted the resignation of Joseph Darrow at Monday's school board meeting, said superintendent Dr. Chester Mummau. Darrow had been with the district for 18 years.

Darrow resigned from his post for personal reasons, Mummau said.

The district will advertise the elementary principal position by the end of the week, Mummau said. In the meantime, administrative duties will be shared by the school's two head teachers, Priscilla Hanzok and Lu Ann Simcoe, for the remaining 34 days of the school year.
