It's still not too late for America

EDITOR: My heart has been heavy lately, ever since President Obama got re-elected and even the more so since the Sandy Hook school shooting of innocent little children. I can't help but to ask God what in the world is going on with this crazy world and what kind of evil monsters are we raising in our society? We used to think of our school and churches as some of the safest places for our children to be, but I guess that's not so anymore.

As I stare at and hug my own grandchildren I can't help wonder what and where is the next catastrophe going to be? As I reflect back over the years growing up myself as a child, I can't ever remember such violence. My how the times have changed, and not for the better.

As I ponder over the past 10 years or so all the way back to Columbine and even the shootings in the Amish Community. I find myself asking God why? or are you trying to show us something? Lest we ever forget 9/11. Are you trying to warn us of impending judgement or something? Being somewhat versed in the Bible, I know the Apostle Paul wrote that in the last days perilous times would come and Jesus said according to Matthew 24 that these things would be the beginning of sorrows, but let not your heart be troubled for I have overcome the world. I believe the Lord is just as saddened and his heart's cry is this," Oh American, America, the one who kills the Prophets and the one who stones those that are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you wouldn't let me! See your house is left desolate! Notice when the Lord is calling a name twice as in America, American the Bible says he is expressing strong emotion. I believe as a nation that we have been and still are reaping what we have sown. You can't shed the innocent blood of unborn babies, pass laws for same sex marriage, take God from our school and court systems and now pass laws legalizing marijuana in some states and not expect to reap the consequences. Romans 1:18, states: For the Wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and all unrighteousness of men. I truly believe that little by little, God is slowly lifting his hand of protection off this great nation as he did many times with Israel every time they turned away from him and began worshipping Idols and false Gods. I know that I'm just one voice out there, but I can no longer just sit back and say nothing. I believe its time that we or those who really care about this great nation arise from our sleep and not let this national slip into a cess pool of hell on earth.

I believe it's still not too late for America if we do as II Chronicles 7:14 says: If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
