Legal but wrong
EDITOR: This week we must observe a very sad and shameful anniversary. 40 years ago the Supreme Court using faulty law, poor science and very bad judgment overturned the laws in most of the states in the union that had previously made abortion illegal. Over 55 million unborn babies have been killed by "legalized" abortion, in the United States alone, in the 40 years since the "Roe vs. Wade" decision in 1973. Hundreds of millions more are killed worldwide. Even more shameful is that this killing is not done on the orders of some terrible dictator like Hitler, Stalin or Mao but at the hands of their own mothers, fathers and grandparents. This holocaust goes on at a rate of more than 3,000 per day and 1,000,000 per year and very little is being done about it. To paraphrase a book title about Nazi Germany we as Americans have become "Willing Executioners" of two whole generations of unborn Americans. How many of these 55 million were doctors, nurses, scientists, pastors, and presidents. These 55 million would have paid taxes and yes, our social security payments. U.S. taxpayers participated in this slaughter of innocents by giving Planned Parenthood over $500 million dollars and their abortion mills killed over 300,000 babies last year alone. How much longer will we allow this without complaint?
Are we not called to defend the helpless and speak for those that cannot speak for themselves? We raise money and stand against all sorts of moral and social evils, why not for this the greatest evil of all? Wouldn't the country be up in arms if 55 million puppies (whales, sea turtles, etc) were being killed? Why not for human babies?
The world has made abortion almost invisible. The media will not report it and our secular society doesn't discuss it. I challenge each of you to take action in defense of the unborn this year. The vast majority of Americans say that they believe in God. What are you going to say to him when you meet him face to face? Do you think that our excuses for inaction will be accepted? As a nation we need to make serious reflection, repentance and reparations for the injury we have allowed and encouraged. Won't you join us?
Our group is The Bradford County Pennsylvanians for Human Life. As part of the Pa Pro Life Federation Inc., we are committed to promoting the dignity and value of human life from conception to natural death and to restoring legal protection for preborn children. Through legislation, political action, education and other legal means, we proclaim the truth about abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia. We seek legal protection and societal respect for the right of every child to live, and promote viable alternatives to abortion, such as adoption and assisted parenting.
Please consider joining us in 2013 and take action to end abortions in the United States.
