Beagle needs help

EDITOR: There is a female beagle up in the pound in Ulster that needs some help. I'm willing to pay to have her spayed. Ruth Tonachel, the dog warden and myself found five or six puppies and an injured mother who was abandoned by the previous owner. This took place on the first days of January in the snow as I recall.

I asked you folks to help out and do a story on her ordeal. At the time there were some legal issues so I think it was decided not to talk about this dog's ordeal.

I just don't want to see the mother be put down. They found homes for all the puppies ... so that part of the story is happy. If worse comes to worse I'll take the mother, because no dog deserves to have such a thing happen to them.

I already told the pound that I would pay to have her neutered, but I guess they will let the future owner decide. I just don't need a dog in my life right now if I don't have to. I have three cats already which I rescued ... I rather not be mentioned in the story. I just want this dog to get a good shake. Can you contact the pound again and see if they will do a story on her plight?

Being an avid supporter of the BCHS I e mailed and Jenna, the shelter Director responded to my e mail advising that Mr Du Pont offered to do so but they have not heard from him since. So please by all means, Mr DuPont call 888-2114 or stop by the shelter to help this Momma Beagle. It is so important that everyone who can help the shelter pets in anyway do so. No donation whether money or pet food is too small and ofcourse in this day and age none would be too large. So many pets seem to winding up in the shelters these days due to serious economic problems their families are having so BCHS needs all the help they can get. Thank you, Mr Du Pont for offering to help this sweet beagle.

This letter was never meant to be published!
The tip off is that I'd rather not be mentioned in the story.
I don't like to toot my own home. If the dog gets a home by
making me look like an idiot I guess it's worth it, but this was NEVER
sent as a letter to the editor. EDITOR'S NOTE: Upon receipt of Mr. Dupont's letter, he was advised the quickest way to provide help was to publish it as a letter to the editor. His response was to do so, whch is what we did immediately. Upon receipt of this protest, we reminded him of that, including resending the transcepits of the e-mail to him. His continues to insist on the accuracy of his account. The transcripts speak for themselves. We cannot account for his mecurial position changes.

Offers that are made to spay have always been accepted in the past. I
am very surprised they have not accepted. I, myself, have donated for several dogs to be spay or neutered over the years as well as to
pay for surgery that was needed due to being shot. I will e mail and ask WHY?
