A taxing situation

EDITOR: Let's see, how many ways can we come up with excuses to tax our land and homeowners? Property, state, federal, privilege, sales, gift, inheritance, local wage etc. These already allot certain amounts to school funding.

You are so quick to pay money that should be going to local schools for this advisory committee and that committee who is just sly enough to come up with a salable idea to unsavvy ears. Come down to earth people! We, in the area, have been blessed with a boon to our area. Let's not get hysterical, or vengeful, in thought, toward those who are benefited by this development of local resources. This is just starting in our area and already rent is skyrocketing.

This area has been one in which it was hard to make ends meet and keep your land or home and raise a family, for generations and keep your family close, due to limited job opportunities.

This new gas leasing means the difference between being and not being able to keep their home to many elderly and retired individuals, who have paid all these taxes for a lifetime and no longer have any children or grandchildren in school here. They deserve a break, not more "taxing" taxation. You should, if you have to, at all only tax above a certain amount, which might help the less fortunate a little.

Lastly, may I say, shame on you, who listen, believe and resort to citing gossip mongering, to use as a reason to enact this new way to tax.

I have heard of $44,000 being paid in a year to individuals, in the New York State area, but a month! Gossip always gets inflated as it is spread from mouth to mouth. It's a toxic as communicable diseases. Rely on facts, real facts, please.

Please be more astute and professional at spending school money.

Could the elderly be exempted? Upkeep is expensive and the elderly can't do it on their own any more.

Yes, it does appear that human greed knows no boundary .There are many behaving like pyranna in this area. In consideration of the poor quality of the roads- lets face it they were in bad shape long before the gas trucks ever arrived- and many other factors I beleieve the amount of tax we are paying here is out of control.
