Working to improve stream maintenance
On Thursday the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, of which Senator Gene Yaw is the board chairman, will host a listening session on Stream Cleaning in Dushore in Sullivan County.
A recent news release explains that Center staff will be joined by state and local elected officials from Bradford and Sullivan, as well as Lycoming and Susquehanna counties and members of the Pa. Farm Bureau. Local businesses and residents who have been affected by recent flooding will offer testimony regarding issues on stream cleaning.
"The listening session will allow us to hear from local officials and residents impacted by the flooding so that we can work to improve and enhance current state regulations for stream maintenance," Yaw said. "I look forward to reviewing the testimony."
Barry Denk, the Center's executive director, says, "The Center for Rural Pennsylvania continually works to gather input from rural residents on how state government can partner with them to address local challenges and opportunities." We agree with Denk when he praises Mr. Yaw for calling he session, saying it clearly shows his commitment to serving our rural citizens and communities.
EDITOR'S NOTE: The listening session is open to the public. Because seating is limited, those attending are asked to contact Senator Yaw's Office at (717) 787-3280 or (800) 443-5772.
