Athens tops Liberty
ATHENS - The Wildcats held Liberty's Brooke Scott-Knecht to 12 points as they picked up an NTL cross-over girls' basketball win Friday.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead and held the Mountaineers at bay the rest of the way.
Monica Dougherty led Athens with 11 points while Christin Dunkling added 10. Rachael Donelly chipped in with eight, Danielle Stopper added six while Mackenzie Vargason and Mackenzie Hafer had five points a piece. Laura Lockard and Danielle Dougherty rounded out the scoring with two points each.
For Liberty Nicole Black had six points, Kelsey Harer added five while Megan Hawk and Ashley Graham netted two each.
Watkins Glen 55, Waverly 35
After a close first quarter the Senecas out scored Waverly 37-22 through the final three quarters to get the win in IAC girls' action Friday.
Sabrina Bowman had 19 points, four boards and five steals to lead Waverly while Jenna Bowman, Cassidy Farr and Reylynn Schwartzhoff added four points a piece. Jenna Bowman had six steals while Farr added five boards and three steals.
Emily Walker and Victoria Cron netted two points a piece.
Taylor Chaffee led Watkins with 21 points while Holly Tuttle added nine. Angela Keough and Chelsea Lehman added eight points a piece.
Waverly won the JV game 55-32 behind 18 from McKenna Mattison while Jordan Raupers and Kaylee Watkins had 12 each.
Waverly is at Tioga Tuesday.
