MANSFIELD - The Bradford County Bobcats went 2-0 Saturday and have earned the top seed at Mansfield University's AAU baseball tournament.

In their opener the Bobcats beat High Heat 4-1.

At the plate Zane Vargason of Athens went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Montoursville's Pierce Ranck, Wellsboro's Ben Shaw, Northeast Bradford's James Zajac, Troy's Josh Mattocks and Towanda's Tristan James all had hits.

Shaw, Zajac and Mattocks scored while Zajac and James also knocked in a run.

Canton's Chase Pepper earned the win striking out eight.

In the second game they defeated Corning Red 2-0 thanks to a 2-run home run from Athens' Curt Moore.

Reese went 3-for-3 on the day while Towanda's Austin Markle also had a hit. Ranck scored the other run.

Athens' Craig Moore earned the win, going six innings to allow five hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Athens' Tyler Forbes earned the save, going the final inning.

The BC Bobcats will play at 10:30 a.m. today.
