MANSFIELD - The BCM bats went silent in their 8-1 loss to Mountain Top in Senior softball state play Sunday.

With the win Mountain Top clinches the state title.

BCM had their chances, especially early on, but couldn't the big hit they needed to take a lead.

In the first inning they had runners on first and second with both being stranded. They also had runners on in the second but couldn't get them in.

Mountain Top would strike first in the top of the third, scoring three to go up 3-0.

In the bottom half of the inning BCM threatened again, getting a runner to third, but just couldn't bring them in.

Mountain Top would add three more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to go up 8-0.

BCM finally got through in the bottom of the sixth as Morgan Doerner scored on a pass ball to put her team on the board.

However, that's all they would get.

Courtney Coleman and Cierra Holland both went 2-for-3 for BCM while Maddy Eberlin went 1-for-2.

Emily Faulkner started, going 4 2/3-innings to strike out five. Coleman came on in relief, allowing no runs.

Rachel Ritz led Mountain Top, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Ashley Kasam scored the win, going the distance to strike out five.
