Big League softball drops pair of games
The District 15 Big League softball team got two games worth of great pitching on Thursday, the problem was the offense was only able to produce one run in each of the two games at the regional tournament.
Maggie Bride and Sarah Hoffman combined to allow two runs in two games, but the Bradford County team dropped a pair of 2-1 games in Maryland.
In the first game District 15 fell to New Jersey with Bride throwing five innings and Hoffman pitching two. Bride struck out three and Hoffman had four strikeouts in the game.
District 15 got three hits in the game, with Courtney Mattocks, Hoffman and Karen Wolfe getting the hits. Hoffman had the lone RBI for the Pennsylvania team and Mattocks scored the run.
In the second game Delaware handed District 15 the loss. Bride threw two innings and Hoffman pitched five, with each striking out one batter.
Mattocks and Rachael High had hits, while Kate Pratt had a two-hit game, with a double. Pratt had the lone RBI, while High scored the run.
District 15 takes on Connecticut at 10 a.m. today. The team must win to stay alive in the tournament.
