Black Knights fall to Ridgway, 37-18

LOCK HAVEN - Towanda lost their first five matches in their defeat to Ridgway in wrestling action Sunday, 37-18.

"It was a good experience to wrestle in front of a college match," Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. "It could have been better from our standpoint. We can use this as a wake-up call for the NTL Large School."

The match started at 135 pounds with Ridgway's Steven Mitchell earning a 4-0 decision over Towanda's Jimmy Sheets. That was followed by Ridgway's Garet Pisani scoring a 15-2 major decision over Zach Ripic.

At 145 pounds Nate Dornisch defeated Towanda's Kyle Leljedal 8-2, followed by D.J. Skraba of Ridgway beating Justin Hunsinger by major decision 11-1. Also at 160 pounds Sam Skraba defeated Cody Curry of Towanda by fall in 3:46.

R.J. Forbes stemmed the tide for Towanda at 171 pounds, earning a 13-6 decision over Seth Stahl. Towanda's Travis Chesla then won by 4-0 decision at 189 pounds.

At 215 pounds Ridgway got back on top as Jesse Scheasley earned a 7-1 decision over Towanda's Aaron Lamphere. Joe Chittester of Ridgway then pinned Towanda's Aaron Schultz at 285 pounds in 1:02.

At 103 pounds Ridgway's Corey Bush defeated Ben Lamphere by a technical fall, 20-5 in 5:48.

Cody Wheeler scored for Towanda at 112 pounds with a fall in 3:17 over Ricky Javier. At 119 pounds Slade Horner of Ridgway earned a 5-0 decision over Dale Maynard.

The Black Knights took the last two matches as at 125 pounds Caleb Willey earned a narrow 7-6 decision while at 130 pounds Jevin Vanderpool won by 1n 11-6 decision.

Towanda will be at Troy this Thursday.

New York Small School Duals

The Wolverines went 2-2 at the New York Small School Duals.

They defeated Arkport 56-13 as Austyn Bostwick, Trevor Nocchi, Devin Soper and Dakin Wright earned falls. Also for the Wolverines Curtis Grant had a technical fall, Jarod Alexander earned a decision while Ryan Wolcott, Michael Chandler, Dylan Gutierrez and Kyle Palumbo had forfeit victories.

Waverly then lost to Letchworth 55-24.

For the Wolverines Curtis Grant and Ryan Wolcott earned falls while Trevor Nocchi and Devin Soper took decisions. Austyn Bostwick also won by forfeit.

The Wolverines also lost to Pal-Mac 65-11.

For Waverly Austyn Bostwick won by a technical decision while Ryan Wolcott and Devin Soper took decisions.

In their final match Waverly defeated Albany Academy 45-36.

For the Wolverines Trevor Nocchi, Dylan Gutierrez and Kacey Madigan earned falls while Devin Soper, Zach Cooney and Kyle Palumbo had decisions.

Also for Waverly Austyn Bostwick, Curtis Grant and Michael Chandler had forfeits.
