Nate Bonham's jumper with three seconds to go in the game propelled Cowanesque Valley past Athens 53-52 in NTL boys' basketball action Saturday.

The Indians jumped out early, leading the Wildcats 19-14 after the first quarter. A 20-9 second quarter in favor of Athens put them up 34-28 at the half.

CV's defense stiffened in the third, holding Athens to five points as they regained the lead heading into the fourth 40-39. Late in the game the Wildcats would take a 52-51 lead when with nine seconds left Josh Nudd drove the length of the court and found Bonham for the game winning bucket.

Tyler Melko led the Indians with 16 points while Bonham added 14. Nudd chipped in with eight, Brandon McLean scored seven while Ryan Freeman and Dakota Corwin had four points a piece.

Brandon Fauver had 18 points to lead the Wildcats while Jarrett Priester added 10. Dan Moyer scored eight with 13 rebounds and four assists, Ryan Segar added seven, Austin Lister chipped in with five while Joe Moyer netted two with five boards.

Tyler Forbes chipped in with six assists and three steals.

Athens won the JV game 56-12 behind Mark Felt and Kalen Kamerly's 10 points each.

Sayre 54, Wyalusing 46

The Redskins saw four players reach doubles figures as they picked up an NTL boys' basketball win Saturday.

Sayre led 30-18 at the half but Wyalusing cut it to single digits going into the fourth quarter with a 22-17 run. In a low scoring final frame the Redskins held on 7-6.

Seth Murrelle had 14 points, four assists and four steals to lead Sayre while Marshall Higley added 11 points, six boards and two steals.

Joey Galizia added 10 points and eight rebounds while Marshall Felt scored eight points as well.

Nick Sweet netted seven while Tyler Eaton scored two.

Cody Pickett led Wyalusing with 16 points while Keshon Gardner added 12. Terron Millard netted 10, Dylan Bulick scored six while Ridge Williams and Collin Fassett had two points a piece.

Williamson 72, Liberty 37

The Warriors jumped out early as they picked up the NTL boys' basketball win Saturday.

Williamson led 15-5 after the first quarter, then pushed the lead to 38-15 at the half. They out scored the Mountaineers 34-24 in the second half to secure the win.

Troy Adriance led the Warriors with 31 points, including five threes, while Josh Bradbury added 17. Chris Davis added 12, Nick Cevette had 10 and Colin Heilbrun rounded out the scoring with two points.

Dalton Litzelman led Liberty with eight points while Cody Schmouder and JJ Walker had seven points a piece. Kenny Kreger scored six, Dillon Ford netted five while Logan McGovern and Cody Fritz had two points a piece.

Williamson won the JV game 35-32.
