EAST TROY - Cathryn Brought was unhittable as Wellsboro captured the District 15 title on Sunday

The Wellsboro Majors Softball team earned an 8-0 win over Towanda as Brought threw a no-hitter.

Wellsboro scored five runs in the first and two in the second on their way to the victory.

Brought struck out five for Wellsboro, while Josie Rowe struck out three for Towanda.

Brought had a hit and scored two runs and Ryan Adams scored a run, while Hailey Neal scored two runs.

Heidi Zuchowski scored a run and Tiana Lecker had two hits and scored a run.

Megan Starkweather scored a run for Wellsboro in the victory.


Potter McKean 16, NTLL 5

Potter McKean's big fourth inning ensured their undefeated pool play status in the West Division of the District 15 Little League Minors Division baseball Northern Tier kept a close game (5-4 NTLL's lead) until the bottom of the fourth inning when Potter McKean scored six runs giving them a five run lead. Overall Potter McKean outhit Northern Tier 16-5.

Potter McKean's highlights included RBI's from Kellert, Clouser, Redman, Furman, Empson, Streich (2), and Prince. Furman went 2 for 2 in the game while Kellert went 3 for 4. Black and Empson each went 2 for 4. Mascho, Ruter and Rees also added singles in the game. Clouser, Mascho, Black, Redman, and Empson all saw pitching action for Potter McKean.

Northern Tier's highlights included RBI's from Anton Smith (3) and Josiah Stringham (2). Smith went 3 for 3 with two singles and double. Stringham punched out a two-RBI single to deep right field at the top of the first inning. Jaren Glisson added a single for Northern Tier's five hits of the game. Defensively, Owen Gontarz and Noah Kraatz each had pop-fly put outs for Northern Tier. Tucker Brown and Nick Vosburgh teamed up for two assisted put outs as well. Smith, Vosburgh, and Brown saw pitching action for Northern Tier.

Potter-McKean Blue advances to District 15's 9-10 All-Star Baseball bracket play on Monday. Northern Tier will now play in the Joe Shaw Tournament.
