Canton edges Troy to reach District Duals
CANTON - Canton had the edge in bonus points, including a forfeit win on the last match, to beat Troy 36-31 and earn a spot in District Duals.
Coming into the match the Warriors were 11-11 and needed a win to be .500 and eligible.
Starting at 145 Canton's Baily Nichols earned a forfeit followed by Troy's Nick Stephani scoring an 11-5 decision over Travis Butcher.
Canton's Bryce Cole scored a 9-5 win over Troy's Colin MacWhinnie at 160 while at 170 Troy's Levi Smith major decisioned Spencer Castle 10-0.
Warrior John Bowman picked up a 6-1 decision over Briar Jenkins at 182 while at 195 Warrior Garrett Wesneski scored a forfeit.
Canton's Connor Route pinned Skyler Drake in 1:13 at 220 to push the Warrior lead to 24-7.
At 285 Troy's Dylan Brennan earned a 6-1 decision over Canton's Brady Bryington but at 106 Warrior Dennis Route struck back with a fall over Troy's Jacob Cummings in 3:35.
The Trojans' Ethan Calkins got a forfeit at 113 followed by teammate Hunter Cohick earning a 5-3 win over Ethan Landis at 120.
Troy then got a forfeit from Colin Binford (126) and a fall from Jared Spalding (132) over Dylan Marbaker in 1:06 to put them up 31-30.
Then at 138 Canton's Brendan Cohick scored a forfeit for the win.
Wyalusing 36, Williamson 29
Bonus points favored the Rams as they held on to pick up the NTL wrestling win Thursday.
The Rams had five falls to the Warriors two in the victory.
Dylan Otis (220), Dalton Chilson (285), Josh Haley (113), Ryan Kipp (160) and Justin Griffith (182) all scored falls.
For Williamson Herman Briggs (126) and Billy Barnes (145) had pins.
The Warriors got two major decisions: at 126 as Tyrus Hamblin topped Tracey Brown 14-5 and at 138 as Trevor McWhorter scored an 11-0 win over Ryan Force.
Wyalusing picked up two decisions while Williamson had three.
For the Rams at 106 Taylor Schum beat Hunter Thompson 9-6 while at 132 Collin Edsell edged Carl Gorg 1-0.
Williamson had three decisions as at 170 Jared Shieve beat Taylor Armitage 6-0, at 195 Michael Presto beat Warner Mendoza 7-4 and at 152 as Kirah Thompson topped Justin Haley 7-1.

The Panthers won eight matches to the Wildcat's six to pull out the NTL wrestling win Thursday.
Harvey Wood (170), Kyle Wood (126), Charlie Andrews (138) and Bradley Pequignot (152) scored falls for North Penn while Levi Adams (220) and Jaycob Myers (132) earned forfeits.
At 160 Panther C.J. Sargent earned a 13-2 major decision over Cody Jennings while at 145 North Penn's Devin Remley edged Zach Sheppeck 6-4.
For Athens Dakoda Cain (182), Brandon Barry (113) and Gage Cannavino (120) earned falls while Mitchell Orshal (285) and Brock Horton (106) scored forfeits.
At 195 Wildcat Roger Horton scored a 6-4 decision over Zachary Kriner in overtime.
Starting the match at 170 Athens held a 33-12 lead before North Penn scored 31 straight points by winning the last six matches.
Sullivan County 38, Loyalsock 36
A sudden victory fall by Griffin Mikel Houseknecht at 113 proved to the be the difference in the Heartland Conference wrestling match.
Houseknecht pinned Adam Malek in 6:42 to get the six points.
Also for Sullivan Shawn Nitcznski (132), Logan Wiles (152) and Tanner McCarty (195) earned falls.
James McCamley (126) scored a 9-1 major decision while Dylan Ammerman (160) had a 15-2 major decision.
James Heinrich (138) earned a forfeit as well.
For the Lancers Alexander Vogel (106) scored a fall while Jordan Lybarger (120), Harry Maroni (145), Brennan Moodie (220) and Stephen Harrison (285) earned forfeits.
At 182 Crae McCracken scored a disqualification win for Loyalsock.

Dalton Claupein (182), Jeremy Sheets (195), Garrett Pratt (285), Nate Secules (106), Nick Secules (120), D.J. Knolles (132) and Breycin Fulmer (160) all earned falls for Towanda while Jared Lines (113) and Steven Yates (138) scored forfeits.
At 220 Knight Dakoatah Manning earned a 17-0 technical fall over Zach Darling in 5:26 while at 126 Clay Mosier scored an 18-3 technical fall over Casey Ellis in 5:55.
Also at 145 Tristan Decker picked up a 17-1 technical fall in 5:03 over Tyler Emick.
Northeast's win came at 152 as Austin Saxer scored an 8-5 decision over Justin Sheets.
Christian Thomason and Todd Koss earned JV wins for the Knights.
Towanda will travel to Wyalusing Saturday with a 5 p.m. Junior High start time.

At 126 Wyalusing's Charles Stretch scored a 5-3 win over Tyler Evans, at 132 Collin Edsell beat Nathan Ingerick 15-2 major decision and at 152 Justin Haley decisioned Jonathan Chambers 10-5.
Wellsboro's win came at 145 when Brandon Owlett scored a forfeit.
The Hornets were hit with an unsportsmanlike penalty during the match.
