Canton wins Lycoming volleyball tournament
WILLIAMSPORT - The Warriors went undefeated in the Lycoming tournament to win it.
The team went 10-0 in the six team tournament, beating Holidaysburg 29-27 and 25-14, Athens 25-17 and 25-20, Sacred Heart 25-10 and 25-15, North Penn 25-16 and 25-18 and Sayre 25-12 and 25-17.
Brianna Watkins had 20 points, eight aces, 44 kills and 27 digs, while Becca McMurray had 34 points, eight aces and 50 aces and Michaela Gaiotti had 39 points, eight aces and 32 digs.
Also for the Warriors Rachel Holmes had 10 points, four aces, 20 kills and five blocks, Bridget Tracy had 19 points and four aces, Morgan Palmer had 13 points and 28 digs, Mikyla Castle had nine kills and Macy McMurray had eight kills.
Also in that tournament Athens went 1-9, splitting with Sayre by losing the first game 25-22 and winning the second 26-28. The Wildcats lost to Holidaysburg 18-25 and 20-25, Sacred Heart 25-27 and 19-25 and North Penn 16-25 and 20-15.
Erica Rogers had 17 points, five aces, 14 digs, 12 kills and two blocks for the Wildcats while Leanne Molnar had 17 points, three aces, two digs, 15 assists, five kills and one block and Becca Saggiomo had 17 points, three aces, four digs, 18 assists, six kills and one block.
Also for the Wildcats Searah Kennedy had seven points, three digs and five kills, Jessica Beck had 14 points, one ace, three digs and eight kills, Jenn Wells had six points, one ace and two kills, Katelyn Serfass had two digs, six kills and one block, Lacey Hoose had two points, three digs and four kills, Abbie Beck had two points, Haleigh Waite had one point and one kill and Tori Keigan-Kuykendall had one dig.
Canton will be at North Penn Tuesday and at Sayre Thursday while Athens hosts EFA Wednesday.
Central Mountain Tournament
Troy volleyball took second in pool play, third in bracket play on Saturday.
In pool play the Trojans went 1-2 against Wyalusing, winning the first 25-18 then losing the next two 23-25 and 20-25. They then went 1-2 against Lewistown, losing the first 17-15, winning the second 25-23 and losing the third 21-25. The Trojans swept Bellefonte last 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21.
In bracket play Troy lost to Phillipsburg 15-25 and 12-25.
Jenn Shedden had 11 points, seven aces, 12 kills, two blocks and 18 digs for Troy while Taryn Hicks had 16 points, eight aces, 13 kills, two blocks and 22 digs and Courtney Woodworth had 21 points, eight aces, 49 assists, three kills and eight digs.
Also for Troy Emma Jenkins had 18 points, four aces, 19 kills, five blocks and 18 digs; Mikayla Bristol had seven points, two aces, 14 kills, two blocks and 21 digs; Becky Hulslander had two points, one kill and eight digs, Haley Brown had six points, one ace and two digs, Courtney Woodward had two digs, Kaylie Pick had two points, an ace and one dig, Gloria Torres had four digs and Mikayla Matson had two points and one ace.
Troy is at Wyalusing Thursday.
