The Williamsport Crosscutters hit the ball hard, early, and often Tuesday night as they defeated the Auburn Doubledays 4-0 nothing in front of 1,458 Cutter faithful at Historic Bowman Field.

A four-hit first inning helped the Cutters jump out to a first inning 3-0 lead and starting pitcher Kevin Angelle continued his early season dominance as he pitched 5 1/3 scoreless inning to earn his second victory on the season. Angelle lowered his ERA to 0.47, and has not allowed a run in either of his last two starts, both versus the Doubledays.

Edgar Duran scored the Cutters first run of the game in the bottom of the first on a Michael Dabbs double followed by a two RBI broken-bat single off the bat of Jeff Cusick. An RBI double from Duran in the bottom of the fifth drove in David Doss to make the score 4-0 and that's all the Cutters needed to end their three-game losing streak.

Relievers Julian Sampson, Jake Borup, and Suilman Lebron worked 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief without allowing a hit to preserve the shutout. Borup's appearance was his first as a professional.

With the victory the Cutters climb back to .500 at 6-6. They'll face the Doubledays in the rubber-match of their three-game set Wednesday night. Opening pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on ESPN 104.1 FM or ESPN 1050 AM or online at crosscutters.com
