The Crosscutters failed to record an extra base as their five-game winning streak comes to an end against the Scrappers 6-2 Saturday night.

The Cutters fell behind in the third. Juan Bautista hit a ground ball through the legs of Zach Green to score the first Scrappers' run. Nellie Rodriguez followed up with a double to the gap in right-centerfield to give Mahoning Valley a 2-0 lead.

Nellie Rodriguez and James Roberts helped Mahoning Valley's cause with back-to-back RBI singles in the sixth.

Down 5-0, the Cutters were in need of a magic touch in the seventh. Logan Pierce walked on a wild pitch by Scrappers relief pitcher James Stokes and Andrew Knapp came in to score. Samuel Hiciano singled to center field to bring home the second run for Williamsport.

The Scrappers put the final touches on the game as Claudio Bautista walked with the bases loaded.

The Cutters drop to 6-5 and can clinch the first series of the season as they host the Scrappers in the rubber matchup Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
