The Indians edged by Liberty 4-3 in NTL girls' tennis action Tuesday.

In first singles, Mountaineer Noelle Payne defeated Blair Williams 6-3, 7-5.

CV would take the next two matches as Hayley Painter beat Jourdyn Buckheit 6-1, 6-4 in second singles, while Maris Kump defeated Katey McCloskey 6-0, 6-0 in third singles.

Liberty's Savannah Alexyn defeated Courtney Schauer 6-4, 6-3 in fourth singles, but Indian McKenzie Sweet beat Randi Young 7-5, 6-1 in fifth singles to give CV the edge heading into doubles.

Liberty's duo of Buckheit and Alexyn won second doubles over Schauer and Deb Bieser 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

However, CV clinched the win in first doubles as Painter and Kump beat Payne and McCloskey 6-1, 6-2.

CV improves to 13-3 while Liberty falls to 8-8.
