Alexis Daly, a freshman basketball player at Penn State Hazleton, has been chosen as a first team Division II All-American by the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). The USCAA is the national association for small colleges (comparable to NCAA D-3) and has over 100 small colleges involved in athletics on a national scale.
On Tuesday, Daly attended a banquet in Uniontown where the national basketball tournament is taking place. Daly received her award along with all the other basketball recipients.
Daly is the first women's basketball player in the history of Penn State Hazleton to be accorded this honor, and the entire campus is proud of her achievement said her coach Cy Fulton.
"Alexis has been our most dominant player and a great teammate. She recorded 12 double-doubles out of 22 games, with a high of 28 points and 17 rebounds against PSU Scranton," Fulton said. "She is one of the main reasons we were able to be co-champs in the North Division of the PSUAC Conference. We expect Alexis to be a major part of our team next year as she helps us achieve even greater accomplishments."
Daly is a graduate of Wyalusing High School. As a senior, she helped her team win the NTL championship finish as district runner-up.
For the season Daly had 359 points, averaging 15.6 per game, shooting 50.2% with 26 blocks, 23 assists and 40 steals.
