The Ironmen scored 14 unanswered points late to rally past Mt. Carmel 28-21 to take the District IV, Class AA football title Friday.

Mt. Carmel edged out Danville in total offense (335 yards to 321) but were undone by penalties (eight for 75 yards) and turnovers (four to the Ironmen's two).

Weston Baylor was 6-for-16 passing for Danville for 179 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing a pick. He also led them in rushing with 79 yards on 13 carries while Sam Dressler added 58 yards on 14 carries.

Bret Berg had two catches, both touchdowns, for 55 yards to lead the Ironmen while Cale Rice also had two catches for 32 yards.

Luke Klingerman had 189 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 34 carries to lead Mt. Carmel while Marcus Wasilewski was 5-for-12 for 66 yards throwing the ball with two picks.

After a scoreless first quarter Mt. Carmel struck first in the second as Klingerman punched one in from 3-yards out. Rob Varano added the point after to put the Red Tornadoes up 7-0.

Baylor struck back for Danville, scoring on a run from four yards out. After the Shayne Riley kick the Ironmen tied it up at 7-7.

Later in the second Wasilewski put Mt. Carmel up again, this time from a 1-yard dive into the endzone. Varano added the point after to make it 14-7 Tornadoes.

Late in the first half Danville knotted it up again as Baylor hit Berg for a 35 yard touchdown strike. Riley added the kick after and it was all tied up 14-14 at the half.

The Red Tornadoes struck first in the third quarter as Klingerman rushed one in from 4-yards out. Varano's kick was good and Mt. Carmel took a 21-14 lead.

But in the end they couldn't stop Danville's air attack.

Later in the third quarter Baylor hit Berg for a 20-yard scoring strike. After the Riley kick it was all tied up at 21.

Then in the fourth quarter Baylor found Zack Kozick for an 87-yard touchdown pass. Riley added the point after and Danville went up permanently 28-21.

The Ironmen will now face the District III champions next weekend.
