DeRichie gets career high, but Mansfield falls
Alyssa DeRichie scored a career-high 18 points, but East Stroudsburg's late run led the Warriors to a 66-59 PSAC East victory at Decker Gymnasium Wednesday night.
DeRichie connected on five-of-eight field goals and was a perfect eight-of-eight from the free throw line to lead the Mountaineers in scoring.
The sophomore was just one rebound shy of her first career double-double, finishing the game with nine boards. She also added four steals, three blocks and three steals.
Sophomore Megan McSwain was just one point shy of her career high with 14 points. McSwain added five boards, four assists, and three steals in the loss.
Freshman Katie Fitzpatrick chipped in nine points.
East Stroudsburg's Ryann Fiasckie led three players in double-figure scoring with 14 points. Jessica Martin netted 13 points while Kelsey Murray came off the bench to score 10 points.
East Stroudsburg led for the first 16 minutes of the game, holding as much as a seven-point advantage, until Mansfield went on a 13-2 run to lead by seven points with 2:40 left in the half.
The Warriors hit two straight buckets to close their deficit to 27-25 at halftime.
After four lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the second half, Mansfield held a three-point lead with 9:51 remaining in the game.
However, The Warriors went on what proved to be a decisive 15-0 run over a five-minute span to take a 55-44 advantage with 5:20 left to play.
Mansfield closed within six points of East Stroudsburg two different times, but couldn't pull any closer. The Mountaineers fall to 4-10 overall with a 2-8 mark in the PSAC.
It marks Mansfield's second straight loss of just seven points or fewer.
The Mounties travel to Shippensburg this Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
