TOWANDA - Thanks to three singles wins Galeton edged Towanda 4-3 in boys' tennis action Monday.
Towanda's Joey Steele topped Galeton's Logan Smith 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 and Knight James Guffey defeated Donovan Thomas 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
Then Galeton's Logan Dugan defeated Colton Halabuk 6-0, 6-1; Devin Shadle topped Towanda's Danny Christian 6-2, 7-5 and Galeton's Tyler Beacker beat Mike Schultz 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action a team of Steele and Christian topped Smith and Dugan, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 while a Galeton duo of Thomas and Shadle beat Guffey and Halabuk 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
In exhibition action Galeton's Lynn Leach topped Towanda's Christian Basse 6-3, 6-0.
The Knights are at Galeton Wednesday and at Wellsboro Thursday.
Mansfield 6, Elkland 1
The Tigers remained undefeated in the NTL with a win over Elkland in boys' tennis action Monday.
In singles action Mansfield's Alex Makos defeated Elkland's Fransesco Strochi 6-1, 6-0; Tiger Kevin Maloney topped Ryane Rumsey 6-4, 6-1; Mansfield's Alex Nadas topped Zach Maza 6-2, 6-4 and Will Dietz defeated Elkland's John Hallet 6-3, 5-7 and 6-3. Ram Chris Heitzenrater topped Mansfield's Steven Toth 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
In doubles action Makos and Nados topped Strochi and Rumsey 6-0, 6-0 while a team of Maloney and Toth defeated Hallet and Smith 7-6 (8-6), 6-1.
