It was a magical season for the Galeton boys as they won 20 games and earned a spot in the PIAA, Class A playoffs.

However, the run ended on Friday with a 57-20 loss to Mahanoy Area in the opening round of states.

For Galeton it was their first state game in 11 years and they had two buses full of fans make the trip to cheer them on.

Mahanoy Area jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Mitchell Smith put Galeton on the board and Mahanoy never looked back as they cruised to the victory.

Dakota Shadle led Galeton with eight in the loss and Bob Williams had five points.

Jake Batterson and Smith had three points each and McKinley Ward finished with one point.

Tyler Cavenas and Dylan Mahmod each had 17 to lead Mahanoy Area, who is 25-2 on the year.
